Bees and other pollinators are a vital part of the world’s ecosystem. If you are considering beekeeping or simply want to learn more about these fascinating insects, you should attend. This five-session class will teach beekeeping essentials such as the roles of worker bees, the queen, and the drones. Instructor Evona Gaughan will demonstrate how to inspect a hive and what to look for during the inspection. You will learn about where propolis, flower pollen, honey, and royal jelly come from and the medicinal benefit from honey bee by products. This class will also cover diseases that afflict bees and the causes of colony collapse disorder. You will receive the book “First Lessons in Beekeeping” and a syllabus. Cost is $79 and covers all five sessions. Class will be skipped February 1.
