Matt runs the food blog Old Guy in The Kitchen and is the perfect guide for global recipes. In this class, participants will explore quintessential Chinese favorites such as General Tso’s, Bourbon Chicken, and egg rolls. Learn about the ingredients, spices, and techniques behind your favorite Chinese recipes as Matt virtually walks you through and prepares dishes straight from his kitchen.

Vision Board Workshop

A vision board is a visualization tool that helps bring your goals and intentions to life. It can contain pictures, quotes, and small trinkets that represent what you would like to manifest in your relationships, career, social life, finances, and health. Visualization can increase motivation and confidence, which makes you more likely to achieve your goals. Join Angie Giltner of Empower Training & Assessment, Co., LLC for this hands-on class. Participants will receive several handouts, which can either be picked up from Heartland Point in advance or printed at home.

Valentine’s Day Flowers

The winter months can get a little dreary. Add some fresh flowers to brighten things up around Valentine’s Day or give this bouquet to a special someone. Tom Poulson, owner of The Bouquet Shop, will walk you through the floral arranging process to make a beautiful arrangement with tips and tricks you can use all year round. Registered participants must pick up their supplies from The Bouquet Shop on Tuesday, Feb. 9 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Once home, participants will follow along with a prerecorded video and written instructions prepared by Tom.

Seasonal Painting (without paint brushes)

Look no further than February’s featured painting, where local artist, Kristin Lorson, will guide you through painting a cup of steaming hot cocoa against a wintery backdrop. All skill levels are welcome to attend, and there is plenty of room for creativity. Supply kits will be available for pick-up from Heartland Point Feb. 10 and 11. Participants are encouraged to provide their own paint brushes but can purchase brushes for an additional $5. After picking up your kit, you’ll log into the virtual class from home to create your masterpiece.

Calling all book lovers! Heartland Education manager, Sarah Meenan, and Orrville Public Library Director, Daphne Silchuk-Ashcraft, will lead a virtual discussion about “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” by Heather Morris. “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” follows the story of Slovakian Jew Lale Sokolov, who was imprisoned at Auschwitz in 1942 and fell in love with a girl he was tattooing at the concentration camp. Copies of the book will be available to borrow from the Orrville Public Library. Read the book and register by Monday, March 22 to take part.

Spring Break Activity Kit

Jann Gallagher is a talented local artist who believes art can be found everywhere, even in everyday objects. To help keep the kids entertained over Spring Break, Jann has prepped some fun activity kits.  Reserve a kit and Jann will show you how to turn an empty spool and paper into a creative diary where you can record your thoughts, dreams, and encouraging words. Jann will also teach you about the lotus fold, which you’ll use to create a journal using the designer paper included in the kit.
